My kids love this place. The firefighters are wonderful with the kids. I recommend this place. It's free but please leave a donation.

If you come by here, don't forget to swing by griffin park, and every Thursday all summer long there will be shows on stage Gaithersburg pavilion, near by there is Fire Museum which will only open on Saturday. And don't forget to check out Constitution garden park.

The Community Museum has some much to offer in the middle of historic Gaithersburg. The museum had an interactive play space where kids and adults can relive selling train tickets or sending telegrams, or do a scavenger hunt and win prizes. The caboose is converted into a playroom with wooden trains for the younger kids (and dads). There is a Budd car converted into Museum space that is perfect for watching the MARC and cargo trains go by without the noise.

By the way museum house is wonderful with hands on things like, beans to weights on sliding scale, coloring pages/books, crayons, chalks with boards, maps, globes, maze game, other games and all kind of interesting stuff like cashier, manual calculator, and most of all, there were running by wonderful ladies, one is Luis if I did not spell wrong but the 2 others, I forgot to ask theirs name. They all are so kind and fun, they all are friendly, informative, and make you feel so welcome. :)

This is wonderful place for children, my kids are 1 and 4 years old they are a little bit too small for the museum house but the train part, they were enjoy wooden train track, magnetic trains, hook-on trains, lot of cars, ambulances, tunnels, bridges, lego trains, engineers' costume, chef's costume with abundant of cooking toys, crayon, coloring books, story books.

And by this fall, there will be a fountain play, could not wait!!!!

Small museum but with a lot of history.

Good for a 20 minute Gaithersburg history lesson for adults, and a great place for kids. The caboose is full of toys and activities for kids, and the museum is along active tracks, so you might see a freight or commuter train rumble past! Ask to go in the silver car--it's a retired B&O/MARC commuter car.

A little bit of local history which is nice. They do have storytime for kids (at a small cost)
